Questions – If God is love, then why is there suffering? Jesus was very clear when He spoke that in this world, we WILL have suffering. Unfortunately, it’s part of our free will that often clouds our decisions and then we are left with paying the consequences for not only our own actions, but we are often affected by the consequences others must endure from their decisions, as well. Pastor Dennis reminded us that it is often at times our own irresponsibility that creates circumstances of suffering. The good news is that it doesn’t mean that God is not love or that He does not forgive. In fact, it’s quite the contrary. God can ALWAYS take what we think is broken and bring restoration and He can take the brokenness and the mess of our lives and transform it into something beautiful because that is what He does.
Last week, Pastor Brandi’s series “…WITH JESUS,” focused on the question, “How do I deal with mental health WITH JESUS?” A mental health nurse shared her story and her spiritual and professional insight with us, reminding us that, yes, as Christians, WE DO DEAL with mental health issues. We are not exempt; however, she also reminded us that Jesus is a resource and that He often uses medical professionals and medications to cure what we cannot on our own. Our God is a good God, always looking out for our wellbeing – spiritually, physically and mentally.
THIS SUNDAY, we hope you’ll join us at our 8:30 & 11am traditional services or our 9:30am contemporary service as we focus this Memorial Day weekend on the cost of freedom and at our 11am contemporary service, “Making Sacrifices … with Jesus?”
